Good for UK records

I used the Essential Subscription for a month. Found a few census records for my great-grandparents. It worked well for what I needed.

So much useful info!

I got the Plus Subscription and it was fantastic for my family history research! I spent hours sifting through old newspaper articles for my Irish ancestors and really hit the jackpot. The search tools were intuitive, and I even found some distant relatives I didn't know about. I will definitely be renewing my subscription when it's up!

Decent value subscription

I was hesitant to try another genealogy site, but Findmypast had a good introductory offer for the Essential Subscription. I managed to get it for about 30% off, which made it feel like a fair price for a year. I primarily used it for the UK Census Records 1841-1911 and found some gaps in my tree. The records loaded quickly. It took me a bit to get used to their site layout compared to another one I used before, but overall, it was a worthwhile purchase for the cost.

Hey, thinking of signing up for Findmypast. Been using Ancestry for a while, but hear FMP is better for UK stuff. Anyone use both? Thoughts?

S Sam T. 4 months ago
Yeah, I use both! FMP definitely has better British and Irish records, especially if you're looking for things like the 1921 Census or specific parish records. Ancestry's good for overall international, but FMP shines for UK.

Totally agree with the other reply. I got the premium sub on FMP specifically for my UK ancestors and it's been a game changer. Plus, the newspaper archive is insane for filling in the gaps. You can upload your GEDCOM too, so it's not like you're starting from scratch.
